Tsukioka Onsen opened in 1915 (Taisho 4). It began as a therapeutic hot spring resort when a hot spring was accidentally discovered while drilling for oil.
The hot spring town, enveloped in the scent of sulfur, is lined with inns, restaurants, and souvenir shops.
As dusk falls, the charming streets are filled with geishas in elegant kimonos, welcoming travelers with a sense of nostalgia.
Tsukioka Onsen boasts one of the highest sulfur content levels in Japan.

This mildly alkaline sulfur spring, with its rare and beautiful emerald green color, is gentle on the skin and is so potent that it can blacken precious metals.
